Meet Nilsa. She is my newest finish and a pattern is available now.

Nilsa, 60" by 83"

I used the Island Batik collection - Blushing Garden to make Nilsa.

Have you seen Blushing Garden? It is a beautiful collection with my favorite colors - red, pink and gold. Even a bit of teal to brighten things up. They are beautiful and sunny!

is it the thought that counts . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

So I know it was just last week when I stated that Mondays were good for blogging days. I was doing so well with two Mondays in a row . . . and then this past Monday hit.  I had every intention of posting.  I even knew what pics I'd share and what I'd say . . . but life.  You feel me, right?  And then Tuesday was a chemo day.
Look at Todd smiling for the camera! Tuesday night was tough and Wednesday I stayed home with him, so here it is on Thursday and I'm playing catch-up. Harrumph. Thursdays just feel ...

Synergy Quilt Pattern Release!!! from Sew Preeti Quilts

It was about one year ago, when I first doodled the idea that became Synergy. I first made Synergy in Rainbow Fabrics on a Light Gray background, provided by Island Batiks.

The second version was in Tantalizing Teals on a Yellow background.

Since then, I have been playing in EQ8, with different Island Batik collections.

In Lace & Grace (Fall 2021 Collection)

In Playful Purples (Island Batik Foundations)

In Interurban (Fall 2021)

But I am so looking forward to the different versions that are cooking in the following studios of North America.

1. Mari of Academic Quilter - Thursday, April 21, 2022 ...

Rainy Days and Scrap Dancing Fun from From My Carolina Home

It has been another week of appointments and meetings, with little to show. Last night it was raining and this morning was foggy when I awoke. The clouds are supposed to lift later and warm up a bit. It was a dreary dawn, but I do love the layers that appear when the fog settles in the valleys.

Last night, I had some fun presenting my Scrap Dancing program to the Shelby Foothills Quilt Guild. They are a small but mighty group, and such fun to be with. It is nice to have a live audience again, that interactive feedback ...

summertime shenanigans . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

It has been a whirlwind of a month! June is a month when thoughts turn to . . .

Pumpkins.  I mean, right?!  Doesn't everyone's mind work this way?! Haha! You know, I rarely buy wool kits because I enjoy picking my own wool for a project. When I found this darling pattern, I knew I'd definitely want to kit it from my own stash!
I had just the perfect combinations to work with!  Does anyone else work out colors/fabrics this way? I do love the end game . . .
Of course it still needs to be blanket stitched down, but ...

tried and true . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

Have I ever mentioned how much I enjoy binding?  I really do.  I love the rhythmic stitching motion.  It's soothing and settling. So I often volunteer to do the binding on group quilts.  (I dislike giving blocks for group quilts ... not because I don't want to give or participate, but because of comments someone once made about my blocks in a swap.  It hurt my feelings and I'm just afraid to stitch up bad blocks for a quilt someone else is having to piece. So I bind.)

I volunteered to do so for a quilt we were ...

Charming Denim Quilt - tutorial from DaySpringQuilter

Have you ever made a denim quilt from castoff jeans from family members or thrift stores?  My hubby donated his jeans when he was done with them.  I inherited about 6 pair and promptly cut them down to bigger fabric pieces until I could decide what to do with them. Then about a year ago, I decided to do something with them.

I salvage everything usable and store the pockets in a bin for who knows what.  The rest is thrown away.

I searched Pinterest for an idea. There were a lot of ideas and a lot of them don ...

Finally . . . a flannel quilt for Brad from Carried Away Quilting

Last spring, I made a college graduation quilt for Haley’s boyfriend. When I showed it to my husband, he asked, “Is that for me?” He knew darn well that it was for Cameron, but I felt a twinge of guilt. I realized I hadn’t made a quilt just for Brad in several years. When I told him that I’d make him one for Christmas, he asked for an exact replica of Cam’s quilt. Even though it won’t be much of a surprise, I’m still excited to see him open his present next week. I ...

Garden Party from Sew Preeti Quilts

I have a new finish - Garden Party.

Garden Party

But first the back story.
In 2015, I made this quilt - Terrace Garden and set it aside.

Terrace Garden

Some time later, Paul asked me for a quilt.
Me: For?
Paul: Chad's wife has a new baby.
Me: Boy or Girl?
Paul: Girl.
I showed him Terrace Garden and he approved.
Chad was appreciative and sent this picture.

Such cuteness!!!

And that is the best thank you for a quilter - send them a picture of the quilt with the recipient!!!

Six years passed. I met Chad and his wife at ...
